Cet événement, organisé par l'équipe de recherche Victimologie et justice réparatrice dans le cadre de la Semaine nationale de sensibilisation aux victimes d'actes criminels 2012 et financé par le Ministère de la justice du Canada, aura lieu le 27 avril 2012, dès 12h00, à l'Université de Montréal. Il se déroulera en anglais, avec traduction simultanée en français.

« 20 years after the adoption of the Loi sur l'aide aux victimes d'actes criminels (1988) by the Quebec government, victims' rights are not always respected and victims have no recourse when their rights are neglected. Elsewhere in the world victims' rights have made incredible advances in domestic and international criminal law. The aim of this workshop is to raise awareness about the importance of enforceable rights. We will look at the introduction of legal rights for victims in the USA, the impact this has had on victims and how this has affected their standing in criminal court ».

Participants will receive a copy of the new special issue of Criminologie on victims' rights. This information will be useful for victim advocates, policy-makers and criminal justice personnel.
